What can I say other than this is my FAVORITE place to eat. With the five check-ins (the ones I remember to do) says a lot about this place. I try to hit this place three times a month. This place has the best chicken shawarma in Baton Rouge. The hummas has the right texture and mouthwatering taste. The salad dressing is my least favorite, but it is doable. The serving size is unmatched and it is enough to share. You can thank me later.

Found this restaurant like most of us off of Yelp. I ordered the Babaganoush which was tasty, but the pita bread was cold and you can tell store bought. I ordered the combo gyro plate which was tasty and I really enjoyed it. For dessert I asked if the baklava was made in house and was told no. Really?! C'mon! Server ended up recommending a dessert that was made in house and I really wasn't impressed, you can tell it was heated in the microwave. Restaurant was clean and service was really friendly. I've spent many years overseas as a youth and also deployed to many middle eastern countries and was a little disappointed on the food.
If you are in the mood for really mouth-watering and authentic Mediterranean cuisine you want to definitely dine at this restaurant. Their gyros and Greek salads are delicious.

A solid 4, likely 4.5. Of the several Greek and Lebanese places in the city (and some others well operated by folks of Lebanese ancestry), this one tops our list. Food is well prepared, with plenty of spice but not overwhelming, and well presented. Consistency is the name of the game at this place -- one of those where you can take friends or clients/customers and be confident it will be a good experience. Good atmosphere without being overdone. No nits or picks. Just a cut above the others, all the way around. (With a bit of an asterisk that if the latest iteration of Zorba's compares to the former, it also stands above the rest.)

Great service for a Saturday evening - food was delicious and came out quick, service was great! Gyros plate was delicious.

I was passing through BR on my way back to Florida after pickup up a car from Texas. I planned to stop for seafood (being in Louisiana and all) but after noticing that the water along the way tasted slightly unusual, I decided otherwise. I was elated to find an Arab restaurant in the upscale college town in BR. Seeing the incredible reviews, I walked in with incredibly high expectations. Still, I was blown away by how good the food was. I started out with a glass of Lebanese tea, which is basically black tea with lemon, rose water, and pine seeds. It was absolutely delicious and very refreshing after a long drive in the car. Then chicken shawarma was hot, savoury, and perfectly seasoned. The rice was perfectly cooked; it was very soft but not mushy and it was incredibly flavourful. The hummus was nothing short of the most flavourful I've ever tasted. The salad tasted very fresh, and the dressing wasn't too heavy. The yalangi (grape leaves) was a little bit different than the Syrian variety that I'm used to, but they were still excellent. The kibbeh was perfectly seasoned; it was crunchy on the outside and hot and tasty on the inside. I have Syrian friends who've given me food that their parents (who were born in raised in Syria) have prepared, and I'd wager that the food from Al-basha tasted better. One unusually good thing that I must mention about the restaurant is the service: the waitresses were all incredibly efficient. As soon as a plate was finished, a waitress removed it from the table. I didn't have to wait for them to come by with the receipt and boxes to go after we finished. There seemed to be no confusion as to what was going on in the dining room. Everyone seemed very happy to be there and work there. In my reviews I typically try to point out one negative aspect that the restaurant should focus on to try and improve, but I feel like I'd really have to reach for something that /wasn't/ perfect about my dining experience. The prices are slightly steep, but I felt like I have far received less for much more money in the past. If I had to find one negative aspect about Al-basha, I'd have to say that it's too far from Florida. I could easily see myself going to a similar restaurant in my area for food daily. If you haven't tried Mediterranean food before, Al-basha should be your next destination.

I have a love for Mediterranean style food. It's always fresh and made with love. This a family favorite! We frequently come to Albasha or we order take out! I love the vegetarian plate because I'm vegetarian and you can sample 5 items and it's more than enough! The best felafel I promise and my guy has tried all the kabobs and the fried kibbi and said its excellent! I recommend Grecian sauce as an appetizer or hummus both are great for groups or even for two! We end up bringing left overs each time.

Highly recommended. I had lamb shank and it was delicious, then my husband got the gyro and chicken shawarma, our friends got chicken shawarma, everything was great, customer service very friendly and the place itself is nice. I would def come back to this location, a good representations of lebanese food

This place is DELICIOUS. The Citiplace restaurant off of College is my favorite location because it's a little more intimate. As a vegetarian, they have options! My usual is the vegetarian plate which gives you FIVE favorites. I get the grape leaves, hummus, squash mousaka, taboule and falafel. It is also served with a feta salad. They give you white or wheat pita bread while you wait for your entrees. My boyfriend likes this place because he is a carnivore and feels guilty when I'm limited to a salad at just about every place we go. He gets the combination chicken shwarma and gyros plate. The portions are huge, the price is great and the food is phenomenal.

One of the things BR does right everytime!!! Albasha's is #Amazeballs! Can't go wrong w the Combo Plate or the Chicken Shawarma!

The best Lebanese/Greek joint in BR. I ordered the lamb shank and it was way too much to eat and I ate it all. The flavor couldnt be beat with the au jus covered rice and green peas, omg. I also ordered the baba ganoush which was a huge portion and perfect. Suffice it to say that i pigged out at the place and it was a good pigging on tender lamb that is. I left with a fully belly and a big smile.

The food is ALWAYS GREAT!! I eat here for lunch all the time since I work down the street.. Reasonably priced & large portions!! Best of all.. They are CONSISTENT!! Food is always fresh & fast too!!

I have been dining at Albasha for nearly 20 years now. Put simply, there is no finer Greek/Lebanese food in Baton Rouge. Their hummus has a light hint of citrus and the feta salad is perfection. I highly recommend their "Lebanese iced tea" which is a concoction of their own making that is almost like an Arnold Palmer with a little rose water. The souvlaki sandwich is a personal favorite, but NOTHING beats the chicken shawarma plate with hummus, rice and salad. I cannot stress this enough... ask them to bring you a side of tahina to pour over the chicken. You'll thank me later! The service is always great and the food comes out ridiculously fast. I've had countless meals there over the last two decades and have yet to be disappointed.

So good! Mediterranean hummus, chicken shawarma and lamb kabob. Perfection. It's my second time eating Greek/Lebanese so I don't have lot of background to compare it to, but based off of the other reviews I would say it's excellent!!!

For my 100th Yelp review, I'm reviewing Albasha. This is my favorite mediterranean-ish restaurant in Louisiana for 1 reason alone: Chicken Shawarma! I personally find it hard to find a really tasty chk shawarma dish outside of Dearborn or NYC, but this place really rocked it. I'd also recommend gyro meat combo. They serve the food with a nice little salad with the oh-so-delish white cream sauce. (Can't get enough of it). Coming off a 7-mile run around LSU lakes, my ravenous appetite was craving more, so I also consumed their lamb shank. Although it was also tasty, I'd still prefer the chkshwarma/gyro combo any day over the lamb shank. Another plus: Plenty of seating on a weeknight and fast service.

I love this place so much. The food is delicious and the service is super fast. I always get the chicken shwarma salad or plate and it's a ton of food that comes out within a few minutes. (Try a side of tahini on your chicken. It's ground sesame seeds which is how the authentic shwarma is eaten). I also really like the Greek beer almaza which I always get. I've brought lots of people here and no one has ever been disappointed! Prices are great too for the amount of food you get.

Finally got a chance to try this gem of a Greek restaurant. Glad I did! Great food and service with a comfortable atmosphere. The combo plate is hard to beat. Loaded with lamb, chicken, hummus, rice & salad, served with warm pita bread on the side. I'd never had to build my own gyro, but I'd do it again! Messy, yes, but the quality and quantity, makes it all worthwhile!

Stopped in twice in the last 3 weeks during my most recent trip to BR. I realized that I had not tried the lamb chops and, boy, it was one of the best versions of a lamb chop I have ever had! It was seasoned just right and cooked just right for a flavorful and tender chop. I am sure this is my new "base" dish at Al Basha.

This place crafted my meal perfectly. The hummus made me want to hit a mezzo soprano note! Instead, I chose to eat my food super fast. I needed a whole bag of napkins when I finished. Sloppy eating is good eating (don't tell my mother). Meals here are meals of a lifetime. The tranquil atmosphere allows me to unwind and think about all the troubles and worries that I don't have (haha). Go here- you'll want a bed so you'll never have to leave. I bring sheets in when I go, just in case. GO! Just take my bogus word for it. Thank me later!

One of my favorite places in Baton Rouge. The food is always so delicious. If you have 3 or more I strongly suggest the Albasha Meza. It is a great way to taste all of their delicious food. Also thier Lebanese Iced Tea is delicious and the best in the city by far,

Two cuisines I thought I'd never find in Baton Rouge have been Korean and Middle Eastern. While i've yet to find the former, the latter is alive and well through the Albasha franchise, which has ruled the southeast Louisiana scene for the better part of 20 years. Of the three locations in BR proper, this might be my favorite one of them all. While the place isn't large, the dining area is perfect for all sorts of groups. Decor is a almost a highlight on its own, with wall murals and painting portraits of the old world in almost every direction one looks. It might be cheesy or it might be interesting depending on who you're asking, I just appreciate the interior is clean and comfortable. As with all Mediterranean / MIddle Eastern fare, this place is a haven for vegetarians / vegans. Their hummos ($5) is excellent and likely made in house as is the baba ganouj ($5), which was fresh and surprisingly light. While I'm not terribly fond of the stuffed grape leaves ($6), I can get behind their cabbage rolls ($7). The spinach pie is a solid selection and their fried cheese (saganaki? $9) is decent. Don't sleep on their impressive selection of salads or the moussaka ($7), which I'm told is better with eggplant than squash. The menu doesn't pretend to be all that extensive. Beyond the usual kebabs and salads, is their sandwiches or platters which do have some meaty options for our carnivorous friends. Chicken shawarma ($9) is popular in these parts, but I'm always a sucker for a good lamb gyro ($9). Be on the look out for a quality kebab and while it's not at all meaty, the falafel is worth a try always. It seems I'm always eating the same stuff (::coughs:: Cajun) in Baton Rouge. For health reasons and variety alone, I'm due for another meal at Albasha out in Citi Court.
Wonderful service! Super Delicious Food! Fancy Atmosphere! Everything about this place makes me want to come back! Very Soon! :)

I LOVE this restaurant. I'm staying in hotel-land for a conference in Baton Rouge and my vegan diet, though decidedly non-militant, is sometimes tricky to navigate. Not here. My server even knew the ingredients in the house salad dressings and was super sweetly accommodating! I had the Vegetarian Platter for supper and Albasha Super Salad for lunch. Ask for non-dairy (no feta) with their fattoush salad dressing. Huge serving! If you eat bread, they do have a whole wheat pita option, too.

I seem to order the same dish every time I go there: the combination shawarma platter. It's so good that I never feel like ordering anything else! It includes gyros, chicken shawarma, rice, hummus, pita and a side salad with tzatziki sauce. This is a good choice for those who can't decide what to order, or for those who want to taste a little of everything. The shawarma has been somewhat on the dry side a few times, but mixing it with the salad and humus usually takes care of it. The gyro has always been top notch. The combo plate is about $15 but it's enough for two people. I usually order takeout but I've had a sit down dinner once. I remember the table for two being too tiny to comfortably fit in the plates. Barring that, the service and food have always been great.

Some of these best Greek food I have had. The Gyro meat is delicious, as is there Grecian sauce, which is really Tzatziki. The Hummus was just ok, but overall excellent food.

Very good greek/mediterranean fare! My husband and I went for dinner and were very satisfied. We started with the Mediterranean hummus, which is topped with olives, roasted garlic, and sundried tomatoes. It was creamy and had a very nice flavor. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it! For our main course, I had the lamb and my husband had the beef kabob. Both came with a side salad and small plate of hummus. Both dishes were well seasoned and the lamb was especially tender. The reason I'm giving this place four stars instead of five is because the steak was cooked medium rare instead of medium well, like we requested. Also, the rice that came with the lamb was clearly minute rice and didn't taste fresh at all. I don't want to pay $15 for bland, starchy rice that really detracts from the quality of the dish. To Albasha's credit, when they saw that I didn't eat all my lamb the manager did come over and make sure everything was okay. He seemed genuinely concerned about us leaving happy, which is a HUGE score in my book. Overall, I think this place has solid food and cares about the customers! I'll definitely be back.

Great food!! My wife and I were driving through and craving some med/leb food and this place totally fit the bill! We got the falafel and the shawarma pita with the fries. The falafel was crispy and tasted awesome, especially with the tzatziki that came with it. The shawarma was so good. The pita was super fresh, and the chicken was grilled to perfection. My only complaint with the food was the fries were unseasoned (not even salt!) and you could totally taste the freezer burn! I was hoping a place that did great house made food would have great fries but not this place. Still would suggest it to anyone just don't get the fries!
Life is too short to eat mediocre food! So EAT HERE and prepare for happiness! Chicken schwarma, gyros, hummus, mousaka, stuffed cabbage, we had it all! Consider the Meza... A sampler platter of the best of everything. The fried cheese is a must for an appetizer... Not bready, just the right amount of garlic and olive oil.

Great lunch place for something healthy! The Chicken Shwarma plate is fantastic and a huge serving. My husband usually gets a Gyro and it is too much for him to finish. You will have your food and be out of there quickly. They are extremely busy at lunch. Great prices, clean restaurant and nice staff!

My husband and I stumbled across this place and were pleasantly surprised. Everything we has was very good. We both had the lentil soup and shared a platter which was more than enough for the two of us. It included grape leaves, hummus, chicken and gyro. All very good. Our only complaint was that they were running the vacuum cleaner while we were eating. They need to wait until all the customers are gone.

Yes I'm a fan of this place. I came here because of a recommendation of a fellow Yelper. After a long day of work in Baton Rouge I decided to pick a couple of things to go from this place. I ordered the Gyros Sandwich and Spinach Pies. The sandwich was pretty good, but the bread was delicious. This is the best pita bread I've ever eaten in a restaurant hands down. As for the gyro meat , it was seasoned right and really tender. The spinach pie was really good also. This was my first time here , I'll definitely be back.

Albasha is one of my favorite places to eat in Baton Rouge. When we visit the in-laws, no one is really in the mood to spend the day in the kitchen, so we always order in from Albasha at least once a trip. As someone who usually prefers the veggie options, but with a husband who cannot leave a Greek place without shwarma, this place caters to all tastes. I opt for the veggie platter. You get what you get for lunch, but for dinner you choose five of your favorites from a long list of solid options: Grape Leaves* Spinach Pie* Hummos* Baba Ghanouj* Mousaka Eggplant* Mousaka Squash* Falafel* Mujadarah* Rice Pilaf* Taboule Salad. The grape leaves are a hit with everyone so we always get extra, as is the hummus. My fave so far has been the mousake eggplant. Every dish comes with feta salad (lettuce with feta dressing), so we always have more than enough salad to go around, and the fried cheese is a hit with everyone. My husband, who always gets the combo shwarma plate, says, and I quote: "The chicken shwarma is delicious. The rice is also quite tasty." He's a man of few words. Seriously, love this place. The order is always ready to go when we get there, the folks friendly, the food fantastic.

We love coming here because the food is fresh and tasty. The atmosphere is relaxed and service is friendly. It is near a bunch of hotels off of Interstate 12. We come here every year (for the last 6-7 years) for dinner on our way to the FL panhandle for our family beach vacation when we stay at one of the nearby hotels. It is a tradition we hope to continue for a long time.

I can't say that I find a huge difference in food quality or selection between Albasha and their competition down the street. I eat at both places regularly for lunch, as I work on Corporate Blvd, and honestly, it's all good, and somewhat healthy (in relation to most other options nearby), and it all tastes like it comes out of the same kitchen. They don't really separate themselves on service, either: both can be frustratingly slow at lunchtime. They'll get you seated and take your order pretty quickly, but after that it breaks down. The food takes longer than it should to come out. I mean come on, the gyros and shawarma are already cooked, and the hummus, rice and salad are already prepared: slap it on a plate and get it out there! This is not a 20 minute process. But worse than that, once you do get your food, your server will often disappear, making it difficult to get your drink refilled or get your check when it's time to go. You pretty much have to wave your arms in the air, or grab another server as they pass by. Kind of irritating, and this is a regular thing, not a one-off experience. 3 stars anyway because the food is good.

Now, "wow". I love Albasha. I've been here several times while visiting the Baton which is Rouge. I love Mediterranean cuisine, and Albasha serves it in full force with no punches pulled. First things first, our server was the bomb! She was very nice, welcoming, and totally made our fairly large group feel at home. Dang, I just wish I caught her name, because she definitely deserves props for handling a table of science nerds! ;) I'm easy. I'm easy when it comes to Greek food. I can totally go with the masses and take nibbles from everyone else's plate like a big ole mouse. Ultimately, I jumped in with two others and we ordered the gargantuan Alabasha's Meza (serves 3). What a freakin' deal. Here's what we got: -Platter of Feta Cheese Salad -Hummos -Baba Ghanouj -Kibbi -Falafel -Rice -Grape Leaves -Cabbage Rolls -Combination of Chicken Shwarma and Gyros **it's ok, you can wipe the slobber from your mouth---I won't stare (for too long)** Everything was soooooo good, and I swear I had dreams about sleeping in a bed of all this tasty goodness for the next two nights. Needless to say, we weren't able to finish this feast (but we tried). Had a couple bottles of Mediterranean beers with our meal, and I was in food heaven. The ambiance is nice here, and you can't complain when they have futbol showing on their TVs. Such a unique treasure for Baton Rouge. A solid 4.5 stars for Albasha (I'm rounding up because of our spectacular server).

Consistent food every time I go. I can't compare vs. other Greek & Lebanese but I find their food delicious. I go there at least once every couple months (10-12 times over the last few years) just because it is such a unique kind of food. I haven't tried much on their menu but the schwarma and tabuli bbut I love their food. Chicken Schawarma FTW

Delicious! I had the Vegetarian and everything on my plate was scrumptuous. My husband had the gyro plate and the meat was so friggin' tender. Mmmmmm. Meat. Also of note: servings are large and prices are reasonable. Will definitely go again!

Chicken Shawarma Plate...OMG! I can't get enough. The chicken is so tender and perfectly seasoned, the feta salad dressing is so good (the black olive on top is an excellent touch), the hummus...I can taste the love in this homemade delight, and the pita bread is still warm. The lunch plate is so filling and I always have leftovers, the dinner plate can seriously serve 2 people. To drink: homemade lemonade: Not too sweet, not too sour. My belly is doing the happy dance right now.

Thank you Albasha for saving us after we made the mistake of eating somewhere else on our rare Baton Rouge trips. We wanted to try something new since every time we go to Baton Rouge, we eat at Albgasha. BIG mistake. We ended upwalking out of the other place and running right back to you. My lamb shank was tender and perfectly prepared over a ton of beautifully prepared rice, a large side salad, amazing falafels and great hummus. The girly's Moussaka was amazing too. SO again, we are very sorry we went somewhere else and we WILL be back. p.s. Open a location in New Orleans, please.

I cannot really tell the difference between any of the Greek and Lebanese restaurants around town. I think they are all really good. This one is convenient for me for lunch. Good food. Good service. Nice location and atmosphere.

Second visit recently. A bit early for supper, unfortunately. My combo plate had about 1/4 of the chicken and gyros overcooked to the point of being inedible. Informed the waitress and did not even receive an apology. Pretty good but not great. Will probably be back in a few months to try again.

Wonderful place! Maybe 4.5 stars, but I generally save 5 stars for when everything is pretty much perfect. This place is a little shy of that, although very good. I had a vegetarian plate. You get to choose 5 items, so I chose the eggplant moussaka, zucchini moussaka, mujadarah, baba ghanouj, and hummus. I also got wheat pita rather than white, and the entree comes with feta cheese salad. Sooo good. The veggie moussakas weren't really like moussakas, but they were so delicious. The eggplant was stewed with tomatoes, and I'm not sure what was added to the zucchini but thought I tasted some white pepper. Oh, I just checked the menu, and it says the zucchini is sauteed with olive oil, tomatoes, and onions...but mine did not have tomatoes. The baba ghanouj was also excellent--nice smokey flavor, and not overly creamy like some versions that use things like mayonnaise (bleh!). Hummus was also quite good, creamy without being overly oily. The mujadarah was quite good except a little too salty. The salad was fine. Pitas were pretty routine, not the fluffly ones I sometimes find at Greek restaurants and which I really like, but these were certainly not bad at all. I also had a piece of baklava, which was quite good--not overly sweet as they often are. Service was pretty good too--friendly and prompt. Overall: healthy and delicious Lebanese/Greek food! Pretty veg*n-friendly. Ambiance: casual but nice, with some nice Middle Eastern/Greek themed paintings on the walls. Location: inside a strip mall. Parking: plenty of attached parking.

Everything I've had here is just so good! I even brought my grandfather in for lunch one day, and he is quite skeptical of anything that isn't traditional American food. naturally he got the hamburger when we came to Albashas, and he was thrilled with it. Now he isn't so afraid when I try to introduce him to worldly cuisine. I've had the Tabbouleh, chicken schwarma salad and falafel. All were delicious. Never go wrong here.

Chicken schwarma plate is almost the perfect meal. Delicious, filling, reasonably healthy, and correctly priced. Only complaint is that the pita is thin and dry. Service was somewhat inattentive. Overall, I highly recommend this place.

For basic and dependable Mediterranean food in nicer-than-average surroundings, the Baton Rouge-based mini-chain Albasha is a good bet. This Albasha location is in a sprawling shopping area plagued by snarls of traffic, but it's worth navigating to if you're in the older part of town. The lunch menu includes humongous portions, at reasonable prices ($7-11?), of typical Med fare like shawarma, kebabs, and gyros; most of these plates come with hummus and a nice salad with feta cheese (and a little too much of a rather heavy dressing). My lamb was slightly overcooked, but still decent. The restaurant is comfortable and well-appointed, with a rather officious atmosphere at lunchtime that seems to suit the business folks who make up much of the crowd at that time of day. From what I recall of an evening meal a couple of years back, the food was a little better, the lights were lower, and the atmosphere was accordingly a little more relaxed and enjoyable.

I rarely eat Greek and Lebanese, very rarely, but my buddy convinced me to try this place out after a long weekend. We were in for lunch on a Sunday around noon, and had no trouble getting a table. The atmosphere was fine, and the service was good. I had a combination platter, truthfully I don't know exactly what it was, but it was pretty darn good. Chicken, beef, rice, humus, salad etc. I'd love to try it again and experiment with some other dishes.

Best greek food in Baton Rouge, and I've tried them all because I LOVE greek food. The service is always great, and they are knowledgable about the food, ready to give recommendations when asked. I strongly suggest the Mujadrah (sp?), which is an appetizer with lentils and rice. I have ordered this with a group before and EVERYONE loved it. The other appetizer that you simply cannot pass up is the fried cheese. This stuff is more addictive than that ridiculous bread at the Little Village. Pan-fried in oil and served in its drippings with olives and cucumber, the fried cheese is a perfect start to any meal. For an entree, I suggest the lamb shank. Now I love the chicken shwarma and gyro as much as the next girl but sometimes you need something different. In search of that something, I tried the lamb shank and now I don't order anything else! Not the least bit gamey, tender and juicy, this is the way to go.

We had Meat Mousaka and Albasha's Meza---A platter of Feta cheese salad, Hummos, Baba Ghanouj, Kibbi, Falafel, rice, grape leaves, cabbage rolls, and a combination of Chicken Shwarma and Gyros which made for a very nice sampling of what the restaurant had to offer.

I'm in BR from Michigan on business and I wasn't expecting to get good greek/lebanese food, but I was wrong. On the whole the food was good. Side salad was good, shameful beer selection, hummus awesome, pita lame and the falafel was decent (a little burned). I had the lamb shank for my entree, and it was THE SHIT! The meat fell off the bone with nothing more than a dirty look onto a bed of pleasantly seasoned rice pilaf. Not sure what the seasoning was, but the rice was able to play nice with the meat. I will sing the praises of Albasha's lamb shank to all. The service, however, sucked butt. I didn't get asked for another beer until my meal was over and I was her only guest at the time. My waitress was a shade above inattentive, but the food came quick. Another waitress spent more time on her phone than working. Another looked like a sweet southern bell, but swore like a sailor (which I'm actually kind of ok with). I would recommend this place to a friend, but I would tell this friend to, "Get you some Lamb Shank to go!"
(4)

I ordered the Chicken Schwarma Plate and it came in pretty big portions! I was excited when it came out because it looked so delicious! However, I was disappointed with it because the chicken was dry. However, my friends ordered the Lamb Shank and they said it was amazing! A little gamey but overall it was really tender. The atmosphere was really nice, similar to Serops. I'll come back here again to try their other dishes, but if it fails again, I'm going to Serops.

4.5 stars! Well, I used to frequent Falafel Drive-In in San Jose on Stevens Creek, and haven't had a falafel sammy in the past SEVEN AND A HALF YEARS that even comes close to theirs. Until I went to Albasha. It is glorious! I'm so glad my friend took me here, because the Lebanese tea and hummus were amazing as well. I've had some horrible hummus and theirs makes up for it. The pita was nice and warm, too. Normally you get some shitty hummus with cold, cut pieces of pita from a Wal-mart pita bag. Not here! They also refill the pita basket, unlike most places I've been to. I'm sure I looked like an idiot trying to fish for pine nuts from the bottom of my cup, but whatever. It's their fault for being so yummy. Also, I did not notice any problems with the waiters...? They were all "ethnic" and none of them seemed to have drama. Prices are great. I didn't run into any of the problems that the previous reviewers did. Are you expecting the chicken shawarma sandwich with fries to be $4?! Get out of here with that madness. They're totally reasonable!

I've been eating Greek & Lebanese food for as long as I can remember. A family friend of ours was from Lebanon and he would always bring Lebanese food over much to my delight. The best Greek & Lebanese restaurant in Baton Rouge in my humble opinion, is Albasha's. Albashsa's has the best overall quality of the Greek & Lebanese restaurants in Baton Rouge. Some places may have better fried cheese, or better fattoush salad ,or whatnot, but overall you really can't beat Albasha's. Albasha's is about the only place that knows how to make grape leaves correctly, as every other place I've ever had them makes them so sour I almost gag. If you're looking for chicken shawarma, gyro's, or any other Greek & Lebanese fare, Albasha's your best choice.

All good reviews you read are true. Excellent everything. Was there for supper just last night with large-ish group of friends. Very accommodating, no trouble splitting the check, all food dishes arrived together and in perfect order. I had the gyro sandwich platter and recommend it highly. First, it's about the least expensive of items on the dinner menu. Yet, it's substantial and delicious. Comes with an option of fries, or a salad and hummous on the side. Forget fries, get the good stuff and you'll be happy.

Maybe it was what I ordered....but previous reviews really siked me out. Server was nice, but food was average. I had the lamb kabob, good flavor, but it was over cooked and chewy. The Pita bread was definitely microwaved, which after it cools down, becomes inedible. Maybe I should have just gotten something else. And the bathrooms were not a good look for the restaurant. Like I always say, "if they don't keep up what can be seen by the customer, just imagine, how they keep what can Not be seen by customers" just saying

This is our go-to Middle Eastern restaurant in a city crowded with choices. We always start with Fried Cheese. We usually get the Chicken Shawarma Fatoush Salad, but our new favorite entree is the Lamb Chops.

This place is very filling. Oftentimes, I would go and get the gyro plate if I wanted extra fattiness from the lamb-beef combo, or I would get the chicken schwarma platter when I wanted something a little bit cleaner tasting. I would eat the pita and hummous, which was very good and had a few whole garbanzo beans included (nice touch, in my opinion) and take the main entre to go, which would be even better, hours later or the next day. Their lebanese sweet tea, though also having a nice touch included by way of having pine nuts floating on top, was a little too sharp and oversweetened. I found that by asking for water and a spare glass, I could water it down to my own taste. Service was often excellent, the people remember you after you come a couple of times, but keep in mind they close early, I think around 9. If I recall correctly, they also close after their lunch rush, so be sure to call ahead to double check hours.

My husband took me here when we were dating 2 years ago...it was my first time eating Greek...& I'm hooked! We live almost 3 hours from here...& we try to make a visit every couple of months. We normally get a big combination plate & we're never disappointed!

when i'm in baton rouge, i love eating at greek and lebanese restaurants because, while new orleans has mona's (which is decent), i *heart* serop's, roman's, and albasha more. i recently ate here and got one of my usual entrees - the gyros salad. it was as good as i remember. the lettuce was fresh and topped with a moderate amount of tangy feta cheese dressing and a generous amount of warm, perfectly-spiced gyro meat. it comes with a side of grecian sauce (thick yogurt, cucumber, dill) which i like to mix with the lettuce and meat. as i am gluten-free, i don't eat the bread, but for those who do, the salad comes with a side of pita. at about 10 usd, it's not a bad price for a quality and filling meal. full menu of other standards and favorites. plenty of parking. opens at 5 pm for dinner. wait staff is attentive but not suffocating.

If you get the chance to go, this is a must. The food is exceptional and well proportioned and the wait staff is attentive and friendly. Do check the operating times before you go as they do close down for a while after lunch before opening back up for dinner.

Humus was average. Lamb and chicken good. Rice was average. Bread was poor. Poor beer selection. Bathrooms average, but used water as soap in dispensers. Server was friendly but they had big sections so we did not get a lot of attention.

We found Albasha here on Yelp.. We were driving through Baton Rouge. We took the advice of several reviewers and ordered the Meza. WOW! Flavors explode off the plates, starting with the Feta salad. The Baba Ganousj is as exceptional as it is unique. Same for the hummus. Don't expect to complement your meal with a fine wine, but we had a half carafe of Chianti that was at least palatable for the modest $9 price. Service was good too... Efficient. Overall a great dining experience for small money!

I LOVE ALBASHA. It's one of the best Mediterranean restaurants I've ever been to. The inside feels very relaxing and all their dishes are great. The humus and baba gannoush are freshly prepared and their meats are always super juicy and never dried out pieces of leather like you get at a lot Greek / Lebanese places. Also, try out their baklava and lebanese iced tea. They are awesome. Lebanese iced tea = refreshment on a warm summer day.

Living up here in Yankee Land, I miss truly great Lebanese and Mediterranean food like Albasha. This goes on my long list of must-visits with I'm in the Stick. Growing up, my best friends and I always loved to grab dinner here. When we come home for visits, we always plan an Albasha lunch. The highlights of the menu here are the chicken shwarma, the gyros salad, the to-die-for tzatziki sauce, the baba ghanouj, and the hummus. Any combination of this order will leave you happy and quite full. A surprising must-order: the lemonade. It's amazing. If you ever tell me it's from some mix and I'm being duped, I'll cry. The decor certainly leaves something to be desired, and I just can't get in to the whiny, vaguely Greek-sounding music that is required play. However, none of these things keep it from being one of my favorite places in the city.

Was only driving through the town that bleeds purple and gold and stopped here for lunch. Used to see it when I lived in Baton Rouge, but never had a chance to check it. Glad I finally did. Had the shawarma lunch and a kibi. The kibi was excellent (3 stars) as was the shawarma (4 stars) and I'll definitely return. My only gripe, and not really even worth mentioning, is the pita bread served with the meal had been nuked and was tougher/stale as it cooled. Like I said, not a true gripe or really worth mentioning. The service, too, for being during lunch was very fast, friendly, and efficient.

I think I've just found my favorite restaurant in Baton Rouge! My son and I went to Albasha today (my son is two years old), and I ordered the Combination Chicken Shawarma and Gyros Plate for me and I ordered the Kids Chicken Shawarma with French Fries Plate for my son. I also ordered the Lebanese Iced Tea (which is delicious by the way) and my son kept drinking mine, so one of the waiters gave him a kids size cup of his own. How sweet was that?! The food was nothing short of AWESOME!!! I'll admit that the fries that came with my sons meal were kind of hard, but everything else was AMAZING!!! I used some of his chicken for the side salad that came with my meal (because he didn't eat all of it) and it was one of the best chicken salads I've ever had. The chicken and gyro meat was very tender and juicy (not greasy), and so was the rice. The service was also EXCELLENT!!! Everyone spoke to my son and I, and they were extremely nice and helpful!!! I would recommend this place to anyone who likes Greek and Lebanese food, or just anyone who's hungry and looking for a good meal. The smell of the food is even mouthwatering, and they give you more than enough food. Albasha, you have found a regular!

good mediterranean fare. the chicken schwarma is tasty, and the hummus and pita bread will not disappoint. prices are also reasonable, and the servers are super friendly. the location's also great if you wanna grab a bite before heading over to a movie.

Seriously great Mediterranean food. The best I've found in Baton Rouge. (When are we going to get Tapas? Sigh.) The best stuffed grape leaves (never mushy), feta salad and tabbouleh salad (so fresh!), hummus (perfect consistency), lentil soup (perfectly flavored), fried haloumi (never greasy, always hot and delicious), and fallafel (when it's not overcooked). I have noticed that the waitstaff don't really seem to get along with each other, which doesn't affect service outright but doesn't add to the atmosphere. My only complaint: they always play the same CD. It's laughably bad. Roman's has better Lebanese tea, spinach pie and baba ganoush.
(5)
Brian D.
Best Mediterranean food in the city. I've never had a bad meal here, though a couple times the service could've been better. Great hummus, as good as my Greek grandmother makes, which is really saying something. I highly reccommend the chicken shwarma, and any of the kabob or gyros plates. Lebanese tea (ask for extra pine nuts) is also a must if you're eating here.

Best Greek food in Baton Rouge! Besides the obvious chicken and gyro, their fried cheese is ridiculous and the Lebanese tea is top notch.

For years, people often drive here from New Orleans to have lunch or dinner. All the way from New Orleans, arguably the food capitol of the South if not the USA, gives an idea of the quality.

Try the chicken schwarma plate! It's terrific. Served in large portions, you can split it with another person and still have some left over. Service is fast and friendly. They close the kitchen at 2:30 and reopen around 5, so bear that in mind if you're doing a late lunch.

very good middle eastern food. i like to go for lunch rather than dinner as the atmosphere is rather generic.

Service can be a crapshoot, but the veggie combo plate is so delicious (I'm not even a vegetarian). And you can't beat carafes of wine to split with your friends. Reasonably priced, and everything is just so damn tasty.

(5)Robert H.
(3)Angellé S.
If you are in the mood for really mouth-watering and authentic Mediterranean cuisine you want to definitely dine at this restaurant. Their gyros and Greek salads are delicious.
(5)Michael P.

(5)Alane R.
(5)Jenny C.
Highly recommended. I had lamb shank and it was delicious, then my husband got the gyro and chicken shawarma, our friends got chicken shawarma, everything was great, customer service very friendly and the place itself is nice. I would def come back to this location, a good representations of lebanese food
(5)Anne J.
(5)Nate L.
One of the things BR does right everytime!!! Albasha's is #Amazeballs! Can't go wrong w the Combo Plate or the Chicken Shawarma!
(5)Christopher W.
(5)Skyye S.
The food is ALWAYS GREAT!! I eat here for lunch all the time since I work down the street.. Reasonably priced & large portions!! Best of all.. They are CONSISTENT!! Food is always fresh & fast too!!
(5)Justin H.
(5)Jenn H.
So good! Mediterranean hummus, chicken shawarma and lamb kabob. Perfection. It's my second time eating Greek/Lebanese so I don't have lot of background to compare it to, but based off of the other reviews I would say it's excellent!!!
(5)Vincent Y.
(5)Leo P.
(5)Greg M.
(4)Jake S.
(5)Tavares F.
(4)Chris P.
Just alright. A bit expensive what you what you get.
(3)Aaron S.
One of my favorite places in Baton Rouge. The food is always so delicious. If you have 3 or more I strongly suggest the Albasha Meza. It is a great way to taste all of their delicious food. Also thier Lebanese Iced Tea is delicious and the best in the city by far,
(5)Jando S.

Very Soon! :)
(5)Ally G.
(5)Newly P.
(5)Mark D.
Excellent food! Came hear after a run and ate soup, the veg plate, and baklava. Very happy.
(5)Paula R.
The food at this location is always excellent. My fav is the Gyro Plate! The service is also excellent!
(5)BigArm K.
Some of these best Greek food I have had. The Gyro meat is delicious, as is there Grecian sauce, which is really Tzatziki. The Hummus was just ok, but overall excellent food.
(5)Laine W.
(4)Josh M.
(3)Darla N.
Consistently good food. Albasha's is more Lebanese than Greek but very good all the same. I have been eating at Albasha for over 20 years and I have to say they are one of the most consistent restaurants around. They are all located in strip malls and pretty consistent with their casual décor at all of the locations. The shrimp spinach salad and shrimp kabobs are amazing and satisfies the Cajun in me every time. The eggplant mousaka and baba ganoush have always been favorites as well as the Lamb shank which literally melts in your mouth. Cabbage rolls and grape leaves are moist and seasoned with just the right amount of seasoning. The Albasha platter is the perfect size for two people and offers a varied choice of sides. The mezza for two will feed my family of 4 and we are all very satisfied with our options and substitutions can be made to any of the menu items. They also offer vegetarian platter with lots of veggie options so you can create your own plate. This location has an outdoor patio area that we enjoy when the weather permits.
(5)Sandi F.
(5)Charli P.
(5)Alison R.
(4)James L.
(4)Taryn L.
(4)Birdie L.

(4)Maria G.
Amazing Quality. Lamb chops were perfectly cooked and succulent. Will definitely be back!!
(5)Ann H.
Delicious! I had the Vegetarian and everything on my plate was scrumptuous. My husband had the gyro plate and the meat was so friggin' tender. Mmmmmm. Meat. Also of note: servings are large and prices are reasonable. Will definitely go again!
(5)Lakiya T.

(5)David F.
I cannot really tell the difference between any of the Greek and Lebanese restaurants around town. I think they are all really good. This one is convenient for me for lunch. Good food. Good service. Nice location and atmosphere.
(4)Jeff C.

(5)Dalin M.

(3)Jackie D.
(5)Steve B.
We travel a lot and now we live in another state. This is one of the three places we always have to go to while we are in Baton Rouge.
(5)SD C.
(4)Evan W.
I like this place quite a bit. Large portions and good hummus
(4)Toe H.
(4)Cindy C.
(4)Kal C.
(4)Glenn H.
Our party of seven really enjoyed it here. Clean, quiet, great service and delicious food.
(4)Naveed B.
(4)Steve C.
(4)Damond S.
(3)SW L.
This is our go-to Middle Eastern restaurant in a city crowded with choices. We always start with Fried Cheese. We usually get the Chicken Shawarma Fatoush Salad, but our new favorite entree is the Lamb Chops.
(5)Queenie V.
(4)Jesse N.
Great atmosphere and service. The food is great. Been twice and always impressed. Fried cheese! Yumm.
(5)Jeryn B.
My husband took me here when we were dating 2 years ago...it was my first time eating Greek...& I'm hooked! We live almost 3 hours from here...& we try to make a visit every couple of months. We normally get a big combination plate & we're never disappointed!
(5)K W.
when i'm in baton rouge, i love eating at greek and lebanese restaurants because, while new orleans has mona's (which is decent), i *heart* serop's, roman's, and albasha more. i recently ate here and got one of my usual entrees - the gyros salad. it was as good as i remember. the lettuce was fresh and topped with a moderate amount of tangy feta cheese dressing and a generous amount of warm, perfectly-spiced gyro meat. it comes with a side of grecian sauce (thick yogurt, cucumber, dill) which i like to mix with the lettuce and meat. as i am gluten-free, i don't eat the bread, but for those who do, the salad comes with a side of pita. at about 10 usd, it's not a bad price for a quality and filling meal. full menu of other standards and favorites. plenty of parking. opens at 5 pm for dinner. wait staff is attentive but not suffocating.
(5)Matthew P.
If you get the chance to go, this is a must. The food is exceptional and well proportioned and the wait staff is attentive and friendly. Do check the operating times before you go as they do close down for a while after lunch before opening back up for dinner.
(5)Cul A.
Humus was average. Lamb and chicken good. Rice was average. Bread was poor. Poor beer selection. Bathrooms average, but used water as soap in dispensers. Server was friendly but they had big sections so we did not get a lot of attention.
(3)Beth A.
Excellent service, food is classic.
(5)Steve K.
(5)Mike Y.
(5)Cori M.
(4)Frankie B.
(4)Melinda R.
(5)Nikki T.
The best chicken shawarma in town!! And the spinach pie appetizer is wonderful too!!!
(5)Emily M.
good mediterranean fare. the chicken schwarma is tasty, and the hummus and pita bread will not disappoint. prices are also reasonable, and the servers are super friendly. the location's also great if you wanna grab a bite before heading over to a movie.
(3)Rachel H.
I love the Greek Foods! and Love the Vegeterain Plate! and Love the salad too! Great Service!! and great foods!
(5)Mike O.
Good food. Service started out slow but once they realized we sat down, they were very responsive. Would go back again!
(4)Liz B.
(5)Brian D.
(5)Matthew S.
Best Greek food in Baton Rouge! Besides the obvious chicken and gyro, their fried cheese is ridiculous and the Lebanese tea is top notch.
(5)Cathy E.
Never a disappointment!!!! Love their gyros!
(5)David L.
For years, people often drive here from New Orleans to have lunch or dinner. All the way from New Orleans, arguably the food capitol of the South if not the USA, gives an idea of the quality.
(5)Jason B.
Try the chicken schwarma plate! It's terrific. Served in large portions, you can split it with another person and still have some left over. Service is fast and friendly. They close the kitchen at 2:30 and reopen around 5, so bear that in mind if you're doing a late lunch.
(4)Elkay D.
very good middle eastern food. i like to go for lunch rather than dinner as the atmosphere is rather generic.
(5)Erin K.
Service can be a crapshoot, but the veggie combo plate is so delicious (I'm not even a vegetarian). And you can't beat carafes of wine to split with your friends. Reasonably priced, and everything is just so damn tasty.
(5)
